On September 14th, 167 players from the U14 and U16 categories gathered in Mechelen for the evaluation day, marking the start of this season’s talent pool. All Belgian ice hockey clubs had the opportunity to select some of their best players to participate in the evaluation day in Mechelen.
The RBIHF’s Talent Pool program aims to identify young and talented hockey players in the country and monitor their individual progress and development in cooperation with their home clubs and coaches. The group will be narrowed down to 40 players and 4 goalies per age group.
During the upcoming Talent Pool days throughout the season, players will be further monitored as they play and practice with players from outside their own associations. The ultimate goal is to support the national selections for the Belgian national teams.
By mid-October, the selected players will return for the first Talent Pool day camp.
