To support our national program that made significant positive steps over the past year(s), our development group is seeking for more international experience for our youth players, to start the international competition and learning cycle on an earlier age.
Several months ago Belgium was invited to compete in a 4-Nations Cup for U16 teams in Estonia at the end of August. RBIHF Sports director and U20 NT coach Gil Paelinck underlines that we should “aim to start to prepare earlier for the international competition, These experiences good or bad are always a win for our future National Selection”.
Gil who also participated to a 4-Nations tournament earlier this month in Geleen was very positive over the outcome of the initiative and learnings.
Today our U16 Talent Pool team will start the 4-Nations Cup with Estonia, Latvia and Hungary. Belgian was allowed to bing a couple over aged players (u17) to support the team against these top ice hockey nations. Interested parties can follow the games via RBIHF.tv (U16).
For most players this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to play at this level.
Talent pool selections for next season will start next month on 14 September in Mechelen.
