With the start of the new season on the horizon and the resignation of former Referee-in-Chief Ronald Beks, the newly elected board has brought together a wider group of officials to create a new, comprehensive referee commission. This commission aims to represent the interests and needs of the entire referee group.
To enable faster and more complete support, the various tasks of the Referee-in-Chief have been divided into smaller subtasks, each carried out by different individuals. This division allows more time to be spent on each task and ensures that multiple tasks can be completed simultaneously.
The volunteers were very excited to take matters into their own hands and form a new commission, which includes day-to-day commission members and additional ad-hoc helpers. In total, more than 10 people are now involved in providing overall support from within the organization. The commission consists of Frank Palmaerts, Wim Blockx, Chris van Grinsven, Tim Tzirtziganis, Ruben Schoups, Wim van Mele, and Thibo Christiaens. Their tasks include, but are not limited to, weekly referee and coach assignments, frequent live and online meetings, rules education, team building, PR, and sponsorship.
Several exciting ideas have surfaced during their first few meetings, promising to bring a fresh perspective to the referee group. Multiple new officials have been added to the group, and several more are ready to be inaugurated into the official referee group.
Belgium is ready for the new 2024-2025 season to support the RBIHF and CEHL hockey leagues!
