We worked with Johan this year in the development course for our introduction ice hockey at the GC Foster College of Sport and Physical Education in Kingston, Jamaica. His support and guidance was immeasurable. We will certainly miss his counseling.

Johan, mon ami, toutes mes pensées vont à toi et à ta famille.
C’est une immense perte pour le hockey belge, particulièrement pour les jeunes.
Tu as toujours su fédérer les clubs autour de ta vision, en te souciant sans cesse de tous, en les écoutant, en les aidant.
Au nom des Bulldogs, je te remercie pour ton dévouement, tu es un exemple.
En mon nom, je te pleure, mais tu resteras toujours bien vivant dans mon cœur, mon ami !

Johan has suddenly passed away and it is utterly shocking and sad. We have lost a class act true gentleman way too soon.
I don't exactly remember when we first met but I'm sure we didn't know all the things we'll be doing together. I could write a book about "Mijnheer" and our adventures.
We worked together, traveled to many places, discussed, designed, planned, laughed and cried. We often thought about life a bit deeper, usually with some good beer in our hands. We became true friends with full and absolute trust. He helped me when I was going through tough times.
I was Johan's boss but he's the one who taught me. He was extremely loyal, hard-working, respectful, productive, kind and brutally honest.
He's had a tremendous impact to our game all over the world. Bigger than many, including him, would know.
It's been a huge privilege to know him. I am forever grateful and hope I can be half the man he was. Here's to Johan's legacy and our responsibility "to make it happen".
I will never forget you Johan.

It is not possible to believe in such lost of one of the calm, smart and the most friendly person in my ice hockey field. We met each other every Championship here in Ukraine or in other countries. That is big tragedy for my self and I would like to support the family in these hard days. We will always remember you Johan, you are still alive in our hearts and memories… Thanks to Ice hockey to let us met different ones but united by the male passion!
